William John Kennedy Documentary Premieres on PBS; Features Rare Images of Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana with Their Works

Full Circle: Before They Were Famous stole the show at Art Basel Miami Beach not too long ago. Now, the fascinating documentary is premiering on PBS New York.

In The early 1960s, fine art photographer William John Kennedy and his wife, Marie, became friends with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana as they were leading the emerging Pop Art Movement. Kennedy photographed the iconic artists with their timeless works, images that were stashed away for nearly 50 years. Full Circle: Before They Were Famous traces those images’ journey from the day Kennedy composed them to the present.

When we began printing the William John Kennedy Collection for Site 109‘s and KIWI Arts Group’s Before They Were Famous: Behind the Lens of John William Kennedy exhibit, it truly was a “full circle” experience for Duggal Visual Solutions founder Baldev Duggal, who originally processed the black-and-white film negatives for Kennedy half a century ago.

The images are considered “rare and highly significant” by the Andy Warhol Museum’s director, and are believed to be “the only such images in existence capturing the artists with their works.”
