How to Protect Your Outdoor Graphics from the Elements

Billboards and banners are beautiful, but they don’t always stay that way without a little extra care.

When your brand invests in outdoor advertising or art, you want your message to last. And in many parts of the world, that means your graphics will have to withstand harsh weather, from high winds and rain to sleet, snow and ice. Even sunlight can cause your imagery to fade or peel.

So, how do you add an extra layer of protection for long-term installations? Duggal has the answer.

Liquid Lamination

Surely you’ve heard of lamination, but your familiarity with typical lamination likely involves something 8 ½” by 11”, like a report or presentation. Liquid lamination is sort of the same thing, but for larger graphics and different substrates.

Duggal uses the state-of-the-art UV 80-2TS Liquid Coating System from Alliance Technology Corporation to offer a variety of liquid lamination solutions. These coatings seal and protect images, and can be cleaned or wiped down for a flawless appearance that lasts.

The UV 80-2TS applies a clear, 0.3 to 0.8 mil liquid lamination to substrates up to 80” wide in a high-speed, dry-to-dry lamination process. It works especially well with wallpaper and direct-to-substrate printing, enhancing image saturation and overall appearance. While conventional lamination does not allow the application of roll-to-roll laminates to textured materials, liquid lamination does.

Liquid lamination comes in the following finishes:

  • Gloss
  • Matte
  • Satin
  • Dry-erase
  • Anti-graffiti*

*The anti-graffiti finish enables you remove even permanent markings or vandalism with a special cleaner.

Ideal Applications

Best paired with naturally durable materials like aluminum, vinyl and mesh, liquid lamination is great for:

  • Outdoor signs
  • Outdoor art exhibitions
  • Outdoor event graphics
  • Fleet graphics
  • +More
